Hi, I’m Madeleine.
I know you’re busy, so here’s a run-down of exactly why I want to work at Fuzzy Math and why I think I’d be a great fit. It really comes down to three things:
We both value curiosity, collaboration, and empathy for users
You need someone who can do research, use their findings to solve problems, and explain their decisions along the way
I want to learn from a team of people who are passionate about their craft and the work they do
Why me?
Curiosity drives me.
Whether it’s understanding users, figuring out what a client needs, or getting feedback from my teammates, I always want to learn. I believe good questions lead to better outcomes. Especially when that means getting curious about why something isn’t working or what I could do better.
I’m passionate about research-driven design.
I’m kind of a nerd about user research. I love:
Figuring out the best methods for the questions we want to answer
Understanding other people’s experiences
Finding the patterns and takeaways that can drive the design forward
Research makes sure we’re solving the right problem in the right way.
One of my favorite parts about working with New Muses Project was seeing how much research can benefit both the end user and the organization. If you want to know more, here’s the full case study.
Communication is key.
If you can’t explain your decisions to the client, they can’t understand how great your design is! I know that you need someone who can articulate their decisions and process and present work to their teammates and clients. Before I transitioned into design, I was leading workshops and presenting ideas to my colleagues. You can expect me to bring this commitment to collaboration and good communication with me to the UX Design Internship at Fuzzy Math.
I’m one of those weird people who actually enjoys public speaking - here’s a conference talk I did back in 2021 if you need proof!

Why you?
You really care about good design.
Obviously you care a lot about whether a design looks good and works properly, but you don’t stop there. You know that design shapes how we interact, how we work, how we live. Good design means thinking about:
Ethics and responsibility
Putting people first
That’s exactly the kind of team I want to learn from. Plus, I’ll totally geek out with you about applying design thinking to other fields, like urban planning.
You value giving back.
I came across Fuzzy Math when I was trying to learn more about SaaS and designing for enterprise and came across several of your blog posts. It’s so clear that you care about mentorship and helping other designers to grow. If I were your UX Design Intern, I would try to learn as much from you as possible, because the best teachers are the ones who love to teach.
And you go further than that too! You do pro-bono work for non-profits, you donate 1% of gross revenue, and people on the team give their time and money to organizations that focus on mentorship. I really believe that design can have a positive impact and I would love to learn from people who are making that happen.
You work on fascinating, complex problems.
I’m a big believer that constraints promote creativity, which is why I’m so interested in B2B software, healthcare, and non-profits. At New Muses, I got a glimpse of how limited resources can really impact what’s feasible. And I’ve experienced the impacts of bad design! I know what it’s like to have to use a clunky program at work and get frustrated by it every single day, or to get so fed up by a healthcare portal that I almost give up on what I was trying to do.
The projects you work on are both interesting and important. I want to learn how you navigate such complex problem spaces and work with different kinds of constraints.
